Cookie Policy

What are cookies and local storage?
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. Local storage and session storage are similar browser features that save data on your device. This site uses them to remember your choices and, only with permission, to measure how the site is used.
How consent works
When you first visit, a banner asks whether to allow analytics. Reject means no analytics events, heatmaps, or session replay are collected. Accept enables PostHog analytics (EU). Session replay is off unless you also tick “Allow session replay for UX research”.
Your choice is stored in localStorage so the banner does not keep reappearing. Use Cookie settings in the footer to review or change your choice at any time.
Cookies and storage we use
| Name / type | Category | Purpose | Duration | Consent required? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| cookie_consent (localStorage) | Strictly necessary | Stores whether you accepted or rejected analytics | Until you clear site data | No |
| theme (localStorage) | Preferences | Remembers light or dark mode | Until you clear site data | No |
| analytics_replay_opt_in (localStorage) | Preferences | Remembers whether you opted in to session replay | Until you clear site data | No (stores your replay preference only) |
| feedback_prompt_state (localStorage) | Preferences | Controls when the optional feedback prompt may appear | Until you clear site data | No |
| work-origin (sessionStorage) | Functional | Remembers where you came from when browsing project pages | Browser session | No |
| PostHog in-memory identifier (persistence: memory) | Analytics | Pseudonymous ID for page views, clicks, heatmaps, and custom events | Browser session / tab (not persisted across sessions with current settings) | Yes — Accept |
| PostHog session replay data | Analytics / UX research | Recording of interactions to improve usability | As configured in PostHog (EU) | Yes — Accept and replay checkbox |
Third-party analytics
Analytics and optional session replay are provided by PostHog on EU infrastructure (eu.i.posthog.com). PostHog is configured with persistence: memory, so identifiers are kept in memory for the current session rather than in long-lived cookies. Data is used only to understand site usage — not for ads on this site. See PostHog’s privacy and cookie information.
Sending feedback through the site’s form is separate from the analytics cookie choice. If you submit feedback, that content is sent to PostHog as described in the Privacy policy.
How to manage or withdraw consent
- Click Cookie settings in the footer to reopen the banner and Accept or Reject.
- Clear cookies and site data for niko.zarzani.it in your browser settings.
- Use your browser’s “Do Not Track” setting — PostHog is configured to respect DNT where supported.
